David Rossiter, CEO of Hand Media International, recently delivered a presentation to students at St Angela’s Ursuline School in London as part of his role as a Professional Ambassador for the Royal Geographical Society (RGS).

Invited by the school’s Head of Geography, Rossiter addressed an audience of more than 200 Year 9 and Year 10 students and teaching staff during a dedicated school assembly. The one-hour talk explored both the spirit of global exploration and the opportunities presented by careers in media and publishing.

Drawing on personal experience, Rossiter shared stories from his two-year solo expedition travelling across Africa, India and twelve other countries along the Equator. The journey, which spanned multiple continents and cultures, provided students with a firsthand perspective on the realities of long distance exploration and the lessons learned from travelling independently through diverse regions of the world.

Rossiter also discussed his professional journey in media, from working within national newspapers to being part of the launch of For Him Magazine (FHM), to acquiring and building Hand Media International into an international media company.

The talk highlighted how curiosity, resilience and global awareness can shape both personal development and professional success.

The Royal Geographical Society’s Professional Ambassador programme connects experienced professionals with schools across the UK, helping students understand how geography and global perspectives can influence a wide range of careers.

Rossiter said: “The opportunity to engage with students was particularly rewarding. Encouraging young people to think globally and explore the world around them remains one of the most valuable investments for the future.”

Hand Media International is proud to support initiatives that inspire the next generation to engage with geography, travel, media and international culture.
